Description
Ever been out on a GRID site (or any DIY project) and been asked to get a tool, just to realize you have no idea what it looks like? Ever wondered about the difference between a regular drill and an impact drill? Than this workshop is for you! Learn how to safely and efficiently operate hand tools, portable powered tools and other hand-held equipment used Solar PV installations. Facilitated by our experienced construction staff, we'll roll up our sleeves and dive into practicing proper use for the following tools:

- Conduit Bender
- Bandsaw
- Impact
- Drill
- Wire Strippers
- Fish tape
- Multimeter

FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes. Participants, must be 16 or older to use powertools. Participants under 18 will need a signed parental waiver. Please email dmeyer@gridalternatives.org to get waiver.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Location: GRID Alternatives. We will be using the entrance via our Oceant Avenue doorway. This entrance is wheelchair accessible. Please let us know if stairs are a barrier so we can accomodate training space accordingly.
Parking: You can park in our warehouse lot, though the entrance that will be open unlocked is on Marshall Street.
Public Transportation: The closest BART is MacArthur. From MacArthur you can take the Emery-Go-Round (free shuttle) to Hollis and 64th. You can also take the 57 Bus towards 40th St, get off at 40th and San Pablo Ave, and take the 72 Bus towards Hilltop Mall and get off at Alcatraz and San Pablo Ave. The closest BART (walking distance) is Ashby.
What can I bring into the event?
Pen, note pad, water bottle, closed toed shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirty.
