This training will cover the basics of solar energy and review key strategies for developing solar in local jurisdictions. The training will first focus on adopting a streamlined permitting process for solar PV projects. The workshop will cover the process of adopting the Long Island Fast Track Permit and also options for establishing a permitting system for larger-scale solar PV projects. Next, the training will cover options for developing solar PV projects for local government facilities including community shared solar. Topics covered will include the different roles of local governments in developing or supporting solar PV projects, site assessments, financing options, the request for proposal process, and bid evaluation.
Training location: The training is located in Lupton Hall T101. The location details include the general address for Farmingdale State College. Lupton Hall is located on Dr. Frank A Cipriani Drive, between the Great Lawn and Hale Hall.

Solar is an engine for economic growth, and recent growth in the New York solar market has contributed to the State’s overall economy and provided more residents and businesses with clean, abundant energy. Through education, training, and technical assistance, the Network helps local governments and jurisdictions identify opportunities, mitigate barriers, and create programs that drive the development of solar electric (photovoltaic or PV) markets in communities across New York State.
