About this event

Solar Power for Artists is piloting a small artist in residence program. This program will be for artists and designers interested in working with any type of sustainable energy technology to address issues relating to climate justice.* Priority will be given to people in front-line climate communities.** Prior experience with sustainable energy technologies is not required.

This is a hybrid program. Applications are welcome from anywhere in the world. Most events will occur on Zoom. For NYC-based participants there can be an in-person component if desired.

Participants in the residency will receive

  1. Technical support
  2. Free solar power for artists remote workshops

This pilot program is planned to be relatively open ended so we can response to the needs of residents.

Application deadline is December 15, 2021. Fill out this application form to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdPi2aHaUczIi5vPC6v-sklhSpq2P-Nq8Bh05xBurVb3_teug/viewform?usp=sf_link

* Climate justice considers the climate crisis to be an intersectional political issue. It acknowledges that marginalized communities have historically been disproportionally negatively impacted by climate change and environmental hazards. Climate justice advocates work to address these historic imbalances and fight for a just and equitable response to the climate crisis.

** A front-line climate community is a community that is experiencing the worst and most immediate impacts climate change.
