Solar Eclipse Metro Area Math Teacher Circle
Tue, April 18, 2017, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM CDT
Where will you be August 21, 2017? Probably at school, but also in the path of rare solar eclipse. As predicted by astronomers decades ago, a Total Solar Eclipse will be crossing Nebraska soon and there are wonderful PreK-12 curriculum connection opportunities. Teachers from all grade levels are invited to hear about the Solar Eclipse phenomenon, learn about important safety considerations, and participate in hands-on demonstrations and classroom-ready activities. Teachers will also go home with solar eclipse topics aligned to NE mathematics content standards and other goodies! Please join us in preparing for this phenomenon to enjoy with your students.
We are offering two opportunities, Wednesday April 12th and Tuesday April 18th, to accommodate your schedules. We will have refreshments and fun from 5-7pm. After the Math Teacher Circle, all teachers are also invited to take a short walk to the Kountze Planetarium on UNO’s campus for free showing from 7-730pm. Choose the date that works best for you, and we will see you there!
