Event description

Description

Chester is special because we are right on the center line. At 1:19 pm the shadow’s midpoint crosses the river into Illinois and passes into Kentucky. Chester will observe 2 minutes and 40 seconds of totality. The area with the most totality is located in the Shawnee National Forest with 2 minutes 44 seconds. The weather conditions, historically are favorable-no rain or cloud cover. If there is cloud cover, we are the north, south, east and west highway for eclipse chasers.

Imagine, day will literally turn into night complete with dropping temperatures, visible tars, street lights coming on, and animals turning in for the night.

Chester is offering camping at Cole Memorial Park. Camping is free but campers must register with the Recreation Director’s office and receive Camping Pass and Parking Pass. Spaces are limited.

We are offering advance Parking Passes to either of our viewing sites, Cohen Complex or Cole Park.

Our Eclipse weekend activities will include: a movie night (admission free), Dancing the Light Away with Fertile Soil (admission free), Abra-Kid-Abra Magic Shown (admission free), the OG'S Live in Cole Memorial Park, Chester Goes under the Dome a Planetarium experience, the Mississippi Moon Fest and more.

On Eclipse Day those lucky enough to hold a Cohen Complex Parking Pass there will be music courtesy of XMC MOBILE DJ, food vendors and eclipse experts on hand.

If you would like a little space all to yourself, we have 10 x 10 VIP Reserved spaces for $40.00 each. The pass includes a 10x10 viewing space, 1 parking pass, 1 t-shirt & 1 memory journal. We also have Handicap Reserved, General Reserved and Press Passes available for both Cohen Complex and Cole Park.
