Event description

Description

Join Mike Shuter and other innovative farmers as they share their experiences of using mature soil health systems as a pathway to organic production.

Klaas Martens - keynote speaker (tent)
Klaas is planning to speak at this workshop. However, final confirmation will take place as his own cropping season progresses and the event draws nearer.

Klaas, along with Mary-Howell Martens and son Peter, farm 1600 acres of certified organic crops in upstate New York, producing corn, soybeans, spelt, wheat, emmer, einkorn, cereal rye, triticale, buckwheat, oats, barley, cabbage, dry beans, hay, and a wide range of cover crops. They have been farming organically since 1993. They also raise organic cows, pigs, and chickens. Both independent and university-coordinated on-farm organic research is a strong component of their farming operation, and they are frequent speakers and writers on organic agriculture.
