يوم البرمجيات الحرة تظاهرة عالمية, أطلقت سنة 2004 ,بهدف تعريف العموم بثقافة البرمجيات الحرة على الصعيد العالمي,وذلك عن طريق استعمالاتها المتعددة في مختلف المجالات سواء الشخصية,التعليمية,الاقتصادية أو الحكومية. يعتبر هذا اليوم فرصة للتعرف على الابعاد الاجتماعية للبرمجيات الحرة.باعتباره حدثا هاما لحركة البرمجيات الحرة, التي تدعمها مؤسسة البرمجيات الحرة. يتم تنظيم هذا اليوم في مدينة الدار البيضاء للسنة الخامسة على التوالي. تمت برمجة ندوات,محاضرات,وورشات عمل حول البرمجيات الحرة. هذه السنة و على غير العادة سيكون اليوم مناسبة لتسليم الجوائز للفائزين في مسابقة برمجة تطبيقات أندرويد. تلاثة أصناف لهم الحق في الانضمام للمسابقة وهم كالتالي:المقاولات,خواص(أصحاب العمل المستقل),طلبة. يتم التباري في المجالات الاتية:التعليم,المقاولة,مجالات أخرى.
