A Software Carpentry is a four half-day basic hands-on workshop, which covers introduction to the command-line and task automation with Unix shell, an introduction to Python programming and an introduction to versioning control with Git.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
- Automate tasks with the Unix shell
- Programme in Python (introduction to syntax, basic plotting)
- Use version control with Git
The workshop will include short tutorials alternating with practical exercises, so please make sure you have a laptop/desktop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.).
This is an introductory course, so you don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop. For example, do you know how to use the terminal? Do you know how to read tabular data in Python? If you don't, come and join us!
