Event description

Description

Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. The following topics will be covered in this workshop: Unix/Bash/Command Line, Git and Github, and R. The workshop is designed for beginners and those with little or no experience with these programs and skills. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

The workshop starts promptly at 9am each day, and runs until 4pm. Continental breakfast is provided starting at 8am. Lunch will also be provided. Participants need to bring a laptop. Instructions for installing necessary software will be provided before the start of the workshop.

The workshop is sponsored by the Chicago Graduate Student Association and Northwestern IT Research Computing Services.
