Soft Power - Part 1 - By Luke Warrington
Sun 30 April 2017, 19:00 – 22:00 BST
AMLD Theatre Company (Pale Imitations, Edinburgh Festival Fringe ****) are back with a one off performance of a new immersive musical drama, Soft Power - Part One, the first in a three part story set in a dystopian world, written by newcomer Luke Warrington, a writer/composer from London.
With a DJ providing heady DnB, electro and hip hop beats interwoven within a plot, that follows Joly Dox (Slix, Ruff Sqwad), Head of A&R at Dox Records as he struggles to come to terms with the death of his beloved brother Cosmo whilst driven by the guilt of pursuing money at all costs.
Led by an ensemble of eight actors, rappers and a poet, Soft Power- Part One, takes a ten stage journey towards a destiny without political influence and asks whether civil disobedience, a world without materialism and the repatriation of youth is the key to paradise.
Written and Composed by: Luke Warrington
Directed by Keshia Watson
