Event description

Description

Social Studies Educators are invited to attend a series of professional learning sessions at various cultural institutions throughout the year. Educators will be introduced to the many resources, materials, and student tours/workshops each partner has to offer to support both professional and student learning. Educators will have multiple opportunities to explore experience, and/or interact with the resources (including primary and secondary sources), tour presentations and/or workshop content available to students. Suggestions and tips on how to prepare students prior to maximize class visits to strengthen students’ understanding of history and the social studies will be shared as well as tips for educators to maximize any additional resources to support student learning.

Educators will be provided with an overview of the National Archives and their 13 billion plus holdings, explore strategies for using primary sources in the classroom and examine free educational materials online. Chris Zarr, Educational Specialist for the National Archives, will introduce Educators to DocsTeach and then have them build an activity for historical thinking using DocsTeach.

Please note: This session is part of a Cultural partners series. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions in a series. Each session has its own registration link. Please register for each session of the series separtely.
