Description

Social Studies Educators are invited to attend a variety of professional learning sessions throughout the year. Educators will be introduced to the many resources, materials, and student tours/workshops each partner has to offer to support both professional and student learning. Educators will have multiple opportunities to explore experience, and/or interact with the resources (including primary and secondary sources), tour presentations and/or workshop content available to students. Suggestions and tips on how to prepare students prior to maximize class visits to strengthen students’ understanding of history and the social studies will be shared as well as tips for educators to maximize any additional resources to support student learning.

This session will be held at the King Manor Museum.

Educators will take a tour of the Manor House. Life at the Manor, early American life and community will be discussed. Slavery, the writing of the constitution and Rufus King’s role in shaping America will be explored as well. Offerings for the spring connected to the Passport program and Social Studies standards will be previewed and explored by educators. Educators will have an opportunity to meet with the Director of Education to discuss their needs/interests for future student workshops.

Please note: This session is part of a Cultural partners series. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions in a series. Each session has its own registration link. Please register for each session of the series separtely.
