Social Media Tour: Sentient Chamber with Philip Beesley
Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences (CPNAS) invites active social media users to join Architect Philip Beesley for a special 45-minute tour of his Sentient Chamber installation at the National Academy of Sciences. Please follow @CPNAS on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The hashtag is #SentientChamber.
Sentient Chamber is a new interactive installation exploring a revolutionary new kind of building, raising fundamental questions about how architecture might behave in the future. Might future buildings begin to know and care about us? Might they start, in very primitive ways, to become alive? This experimental work draws together multiple disciplines that include next-generation lightweight structures, interactive distributed computation, and synthetic biology in pursuit of a kind of architecture that comes close to being literally alive.
At 6pm on Feb. 4, we invite you to return to the National Academy of Sciences for the DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous featuring presentations by Philip Beesley, David A. Edwards, Richard N. Foster, and Patricia Olynyk. RSVP for #DASER.
Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences sponsors exhibitions, the DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous salon, theatrical readings, and other events that explore relationships among the arts and sciences.
