Social Media Skills for Interns // BUSINESS 34
Meets Tuesday, August 2nd from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
Social media has created brand new jobs for recent graduates, and new ways of thinking about existing roles, like sales and marketing. But there's a lot more to running a successful social media effort than having a few hundred Facebook friends and knowing how to tweet from your smartphone.
General Assembly wants to help interns and young professionals get the most out of their summer gigs with specialized training sessions on different social media platforms. Our instructors are industry leaders with expertise in such topics as search engine optimization and web analytics. Their courses incorporate anecdotes, case studies, and trend forecasting - critical learning tools for a newcomer to social media for marketing purposes. They're skilled at content creation, too, which is just as important as technical know-how when it comes to engaging an audience online.
Session IV (8/2): Facebook for your Business
Social Media has opened up a a wave of new job opportunities that recent grads are much more suited to fill than the old guard of marketing. What this means is that if you position yourself correctly you have the opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility and exciting work very early on in your career. Just yesterday I was meeting with the NBA and the person that manages their daily social media is 24 years old! In order to be the next head of social media for the NBA or another similarly enticing job it is crucial to position yourself correctly. In this class we will go over how to do exactly that.
