Who should attend: Communications directors, PR staff, Social media managers, Marketing staff
The rise of social media is nothing short of a phenomenon for organizations. New online platforms bring together people and information in real time, which poses significant challenges for communications professionals. We live in an environment where politicians can announce their candidacies on YouTube, web-savvy moms might take an active role in “tweet” revenge on corporations, and educators must teach marketing students to think about the potential for technologies that have not yet been created. All these have the potential to impact communication and organizational outcomes.
Today’s nonprofit communicators require the expertise and strategic understanding of how it can support and impact organizations both positively and negatively.
The opportunities and threats arising from being connected both personally and professionally, and perceptions about people, products, organizations and issues can shift extremely rapidly. Questions arise for communications strategists as they seek to understand and integrate this increasingly ‘connected’ world into their various PR campaigns.
How does one go about this in a sound, strategic way? As social media continues to evolve, sometimes resulting in viral outcomes, so do the challenges communication professionals will face. This session will help you simplify complex technologies and prepare you to respond to the new online realities of communications.
It is designed for nonprofit communications directors, media managers and development staff looking to develop a new and sustainable public relations plan through social media channels or looking to improve expectations of their current social media and PR efforts.
