Social media platforms and communication technology has developed rapidly and continues to evolve. This eight-hour course is imperative for all Law Enforcement personnel to understand the profound effects of social media and the criminality associated with it. An examination of social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Form-spring, Snap-chat, Google Plus and others will demonstrate how they are used for influencing crime and the exploitation of on-line sex, impersonation, identity theft, human trafficking, child pornography, and illegal narcotics activity. This course will also demonstrate how criminals use social media applications (“apps”) and other social networking platforms to conduct and conceal criminal activity.
