Description

SMBMSP: Kids & Social Media – A Panel for/by Parents

For parents, social media still feels like the Wild West. Interspersed with business as usual there can be violent threats, explicit content, and adults behaving badly. As adults, we know this is par for the course… until we remember that kids are using these platforms too so we wanted to know, what kind of impact is social media having on them?

Join us for a panel discussion with social media-savvy parents—the first generation in history figuring out how to teach their kids to gracefully navigate social media while keeping their reputations intact. During this panel discussion, we'll tackle:

  • What sorts of challenges are kids encountering online today?
  • How do we help them manage those challenges?
  • What sorts of lessons can parents pass along from their experience as social media pioneers?

Walk away with actionable steps to teach your kids to become productive, responsible, empathetic digital citizens. You'll also get a healthy serving of empathy from other parents who understand why it's so hard to do when we, the adults, are still trying to figure it out for ourselves.

Parking: Construction and ramp closings have reduced the number of available spots in the area. Please plan for extra time to find on-street, metered parking spaces.

Yes, this event is on a Thursday: We moved to Thursdays this summer but will be resuming our Friday events in the Fall.
