She is a member of Nova Scotia's Information and Communication Standard Development Committee as well as the former Awareness and Education Coordinator for the Nova Scotia Accessibility Directorate. Caroline has an MA in Critical Disability Studies. She is passionate about making accessible communications feel achievable by all! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, puzzling, following disabled creators on social media, and (re)watching Buffy.

Details:

Social media has become an inextricable part of many of our everyday lives - but not everyone gets to participate without changing how we produce and share content.

If access is a collective responsibility, what can we do to make our social media more inclusive? This interactive, beginner-friendly workshop is the first of a two-part series. It will offer practical tips for improving the accessibility of graphic design, visual descriptions, and copy writing. We'll learn more about some of the different ways disabled folks access social media and the barriers they often encounter, before covering topics like colour contrast, typography, story design, alternative text versus image descriptions, emoji usage and more. Then get ready to put your learning into practice in real time in a safe space.

This event will be held online and will be PWYC, $30 suggested.
