Event description

Description

Social enterprises come in all shapes and sizes, and like all businesses they are fraught with risk and uncertainty, especially in the early stages of development. In this workshop, you'll create your own Social Lean Canvas. The canvas gives us a way of structuring and making sense of our ideas and then validating whether they’ll work in the real world. It is designed to be used with modern lean startup methods as the fastest, lowest risk way to develop a successful social enterprise.

After completing your canvas you will be in a position to:
Validate
-Start validating your ideas now, in the real world.
Prioritize
-Prioritize what to do next to develop your social enterprise.
Message
-Developing compelling messaging to both your customers (marketing) and potential investors or funders.

COURSE STRUCTURE
This is a 4-hour, hands-on, highly interactive workshop. You will leave with the first draft of your Social Lean Canvas. You will also get the benefit of learning from other social enterprises through group discussions.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
People and teams who can answer yes to the following checklist usually get the most value from using the canvas:
-We have a social enterprise idea. An idea that aims to have a positive social or environmental impact and uses a business model to sustain itself.
-We have a clear picture of what the idea is.
-We are reasonably confident the idea has merit. There is no point in developing something that we don’t think has real potential.
-We want to take a modern customer centric approach to testing and developing our venture.

The workshop will be beneficial for idea stage and early development social enterprises. It will also be beneficial for non-profits who have an idea for how to create a new revenue stream for their organization through a social enterprise.

If you have a team working on the same venture, it's ideal to have the entire team participate (or as much of the team as possible) so you can co-create your plan together. You'll get the benefit of all perspectives and better alignment.
