There are many interpretations of what it means to lead with a Social Justice lens in math education. Participants in this Community of Practice will engage in a year-long inquiry cycle to investigate and research how to make our practices result in improved outcomes for Alameda County’s most under-served math students. From equity-based pedagogical practices, to lessons that integrate social and economic justice issues, to placement and other policies that disproportionately impact certain populations, Social Justice math educators need a community and space to explore, implement, and refine our work.
To maximize learning from this series, participants are asked to sign up in teams of 2 or more. Individuals will be asked to join an existing inquiry team in order to have a community of reflection for the inquiry cycle.
Thursdays, 430-630pm: Sept 8, Oct 6, Nov 3, Dec 8, Jan 12, Feb 2, March 2, Apr 13, May 4
