SOCIAL JUSTICE DOERS: PARTNERS FOR THE NEXT 10,000 YEARS

September 24th - 25th, Centennial Hall (101 Egan Dr, Juneau, AK 99801)
With a Warming of the Hands kick-off on Sunday, September 23rd from 4-7 pm at the Juneau Arts & Cultural Center (350 Whittier St, Juneau, AK 99801).

First Alaskans Institute invites you – passionate community members, advocates, policy makers and all who strive to make Alaska a more equitable, just place– to join us at our upcoming Social Justice Summit.

We welcome all who are committed to bettering Alaska, regardless of profession, political affiliation, or title. Now, more than ever, we must come together to create the society we want for our future generations.

Registration is $75.00 (plus fees/tax). The registration fee will be waived for students and Elders. Limited travel support is available -- if interested in a travel scholarship, please submit your information at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/sjsummitak and First Alaskans will contact you if we are able to offer you a travel scholarship.

To truly achieve the equitable and just vision we strive for, all sectors must be engaged in creating, implementing, and living it. To that end, we are bringing movers and shakers from all fields together to roll up our sleeves and take meaningful steps towards the world we collectively want. We especially encourage those in the world of policy-making to attend and engage in the discussion. We welcome indigenous peoples and people from all racial, ethnic, and cultural groups, as well as all abilities, LGBTQ, genders, and identity groups - we know that our diversity makes us stronger!

The summit will offer transformational keynote speakers, community catalyzers, interactive workshops, and tap participant’s experience and knowledge, with an added focus on building solutions and identifying actions. Emphasis will also be placed on expanding statewide networks, growing alliances and nurturing personal commitments to advance this work.

The title and theme of our summit, “Social Justice Doers: Partners for the Next 10,000 Years…” speaks to our mutual obligation to engage in this work, and is built upon respect and inclusion. This is a working summit, so be prepared to be part of making it a great experience! It will be an intergenerational, multi-cultural gathering, and youth under 18 are welcome with a chaperone. Our goal is that we will leave the summit with clear, community-driven solutions and action steps for the days beyond.

Media credentials are available upon request.

Additional information on speakers and keynotes to be announced!
