This panel discussion will focus on the role of and need for young professionals in DC engaging in and pursuing ventures with a social impact focus at a global scale. Following the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the panelists and network with their fellow innovators and social entrepreneurs. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Yin Myo Su (Misuu)

Misuu is a conservationist and entrepreneur who is shaping a movement for socially responsible business in Myanmar. She is managing Director of the Inle Princess Resort and Founder of the Inle Heritage Hospitality Vocational Training Center, which aims to provide sustainable economic gains, meet a growing tourism demand for a skilled workforce, and provide lifelong skills to residents of the area around Inle Lake. Misuu is a recipient of this year’s Vital Voices Global Leadership Award (2015) and a past recipient of the Goldman Sachs & Fortune Global Women Leaders Award (2013).

Wasif Syed

Dr. Wasif Syed is Founder and CEO of Ivy League Advisor LLC, an educational and leadership strategy consulting firm focused on unlocking human potential. He is a much sought after speaker globally on youth empowerment, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship, business development and diplomacy. Huffington Post named him one of “5 People Inspiring Peace.” An avid proponent of youth empowerment through innovation, Dr. Syed developed the proprietary Innovative Leadership Program.

Mariama Kabia

Mariama Kabia is a fellow at the Halcyon Incubator in DC, and founder of Memunatu Magazine—a classroom magazine for teenage girls (10-17 years old) in West Africa that promotes literacy, leadership, and empowerment. Memunatu Magazine has been widely recognized. Ms. Kabia aims to empower over 10 million teenage girls in West Africa by closing gender literacy gaps through a community-driven classroom magazine.
