PRESENTERS

Katherine KleinKatherine Klein (Vice Dean for Social Impact, Wharton School ) received her B.A. from Yale University and her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to coming to Wharton, Katherine was on the faculty of the University of Maryland and a visiting professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her current research interests include race in organizations; leadership succession and social network change; and Rwanda’s reconciliation and reconstruction following the 1994 genocide.


Peter Skomoroch

Peter Skomoroch ( Former Principal Data Scientist, LinkedIn) is an entrepreneur, data scientist, and product manager based in SF. His focus is building intelligent systems to automate manual processes and help people make better decisions. He specializes in solving difficult algorithmic challenges, leading cross-functional teams, and developing engaging product features powered by data and machine learning. He helped create the Skills & Endorsements feature of LinkedIn.

 

Lukas

Lukas Biewald (CEO, CrowdFlower) worked as a Senior Scientist and Manager within the Ranking and Management Team at PowerSet Inc., a natual language search technology company and also led the Search Relevance Team for Yahoo! Japan. He graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Computer Science. Lukas is also an expert-level Go player.

 

Doug Collom

 Doug Collom ( Vice Dean, Wharton San Francisco) teaches entrepreneurial management / emerging growth at Wharton. Earlier he was at Wilson Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati where he advised private venture-backed companies in a broad range of corporate matters, including seed and venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, corporate governance responsibilities, equity incentive plans and arrangements, employment matters, intellectual property issues, and regulatory compliance. 

 

Deepak

Deepak Puri (Director BD, VMware) manages mobile business development. Earlier he held executive roles at Oracle, Netscape and AOL. Deepak volunteers with iMerit, IESC, Taproot and is a technical advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation He is helping iMerit, UN Refugee Agency and other non-profits connect with CrowdSourcers to providing training and online work to US veterans, refugees and rural women in developing countries needing a livelihood but without having to relocate.

 

 

OlivierOlivier Delarue (Innovation Lead, UN Refugee Agency) drives innovative solutions through labs for ENERGY, HOME, LEARN, LINK and SELF-RELIANCE. This helps amplify best practices from the field, connect likeminded UNHCR innovators to leverage expertise from the humanitarian and private sectors with and for refugees to increase self-reliance, empowerment, dignity and the overall protection for over 34 million individuals.


Katherine TownsendKatherine Townsend (Special Assistant for Engagement at USAID ) is the open data advocate for transparency, accountability. She focuses on the impact and potential of connectivity in developing countries and emerging economies and its influence on U.S. foreign policy. Currently she is working on standing up the Global Open Data Agriculture & Nutrition initiative and designing and structuring USAID’s approach to the implementation of the U.S. Govt. Open Data Policy.
 

Robert Munro

Robert Munro (CEO, Idibon) is a world leader in applying big data analytics to human communications, having worked in many diverse environments, from Sierra Leone, Haiti and the Amazon to London. He completed a PhD in Computational Linguistics as a Graduate Fellow at Stanford University. He has learned abou tthe world's diversity by cycling more than 20,000 kilometers across 20 countries, mostly through mountains.

 

 

Paul ArnpriesterPaul Arnpriester (National Non-Profit BDM, CDW) works at the intersection of nonprofits and corporations, developing strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships across most major segments. Particular expertise leveraging relationships around technology meet the objectives and goals of respective clients. Passion for developing innovative campaigns that provide business benefit while enabling technology to help fufill the goals and mission of NGO and nonprofit organizations.

 

Ari Gesher

 Ari Gesher (Engineering Amabassador, Palantir Technologies) is an expert in big data analysis, visualization and systems administration. He has a BS Computer Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ari has been involved in a number of philanthropic projects around the world that involve the use of technology.

 

 

Devin ThorpeDevin Thorpe is a Forbes Contributor he covers social entrepreneurship and impact investing. His books on personal finance and crowdfunding draw on his entrepreneurial finance experience as an investment banker, CFO, treasurer, and mortgage broker helping people use financial resources to do good.
