Learn to communicate with diverse people in work or social situations. Zoom Event Hosted by EmpoweredPleasure.org & HedoFeminista.com

About this event

In a world divided by race, gender, sexuality, politics and so much more, one of the most difficult things is the simple act of free and open communication.

In this workshop you will learn simple tools to communicate comfortably with others of differing political views, religions, and sexual orientations in a way that maximizes free speech, does not lead to accusations of prejudice, but still maintains politeness for individual sensitivities.

The Zoom workshop is interactive and contains five parts:

1. JISC - JOKES, IGNORANCE, STEREOTYPES, CRITICISM. These are the main areas where a conversation between people of different demographics can go awry.

2. SISC - SOCIAL IDENTITY SENSITIVITY CHECK. We name our three most important social identities and choose a number related to our sensitivity to JISC comments. A SISC score is a simple way to match the sensitivity you have with JISC comments while allowing freedom of communication between those whose SISC score is low and are open to freer communication. We do not judge anyone with a high SISC sensitity score as we do not know what happened to lead them to having a higher sensitity. The key is that we know to be more sensitive to those with a higher SISC score.

3. RISC - RACIAL IDENTITY SENSITIVITY CHECK. We also identify how and why we are offended on behalf of others. An RISC Score allows us to make a distinction between personal offense or being offended on behalf of a demographic group.

4. PREP - PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY ENGENDERING POLITENESS. Accusations of prejudice using an objective tone such as, 'that's racist or sexist, can create division and defensive animosity. PRePP is a way to enjoy free speech with edgy conversations while respecting personal sensitivities.

As a sex-positive workshop, we can use sexual lifestyles as a metaphor for race, gender, and orientation. We will practice being "offended" by ignorance or curiosity about Kinky lifestyles in a safe, online social group learning how to communicate personal offense without making public accusations.

The issue of communication with different races and genders is important to everyone no matter where they live on the planet. We invite you to be part of this communication workshop where you can learn skills to speak more easily and freely with people from all different demograhic groups.

We are trying to reach a broad audience including those outside the sex positive community. So we are keeping this group on Zoom so a wide range of people to enjoy an evening of stimulating conversation without leaving the comfort of their homes.

We are based in Portland OR, so the time of the workshop is Pacific time. (PST)
