About this event
On Monday April 5th at 2:30pm-4pm BNMC is hosting a virtual panel dialogue about the role of social connection and related programs for supporting mental health in the workplace.
Social Connection: Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace
The BNMC Healthy Workplace Initiative is hosting Social Connection for Well-Being in the Workplace virtual panel to engage WNY employers in a dialogue on how building and maintaining social connections among employees is an effective tool to support mental health for all in the workplace. Employees are most productive and more likely to use mental health support resources available to them when they feel they are supported at work.
Work cultures built on trust, transparency, open communication, and positivity have been demonstrated to increase the quality of workplace social relationships, as well as productivity and revenues. This mirrors evidence demonstrating people with strong social connections have longer lifespans, stronger immune systems, less chronic disease, and higher resiliency to stress. One of many lessons learned from the coronavirus pandemic is how relationships with others hugely affects our well-being.The pandemic has brought major shifts to our way of life, especially to our working environment and how we interact.
As we navigate working through the pandemic and hopefully to its end, we will continue to spend one-third of our lifetimes at work – how can employers best support their employees’ mental health through meaningful everyday practices, during the pandemic and beyond? How can employees best show up and support each other? What are simple add-ons employers can integrate into the daily workday to support social and emotional well-being of employees?
In our Social Connection for Well-Being in the Workplace virtual panel attendees will also receive a guide of best practices for employers to cultivate a culture of social connection at work.
Join us and our panel of experts for our virtual panel dialogue about the role of social connection and related programs for supporting mental health in the workplace.
