About this event

How do social trust, social networks, neighbourhood support and civic connection combine to create the essential “lubricant” for societies to function? In the 2nd edition of the Toronto Social Capital Study, Toronto Foundation and Environics Institute for Survey Research pick up on the landmark research publication conducted four years ago to see what has changed since then. Social capital is one of the rare cross-cutting measures that is as relevant to mental health as it is to arts and culture or environmental activism. Join us for a conversation on the findings, which will help enhance the work of thousands of community organizations working on the frontlines and inform critical public policy too.

The event will include a presentation from co-author Andrew Parkin, executive director of Environics Institute, as well as an interactive discussion of what the findings mean for us all. That discussion will be kicked off by conversation starters:

Jamison Steeve - Chief Strategy Officer, YMCA

Kwame McKenzie - CEO, Wellesley Institute

Leslie Woo - CEO, CivicAction

Rabia Khedr - National Director, Disability Without Poverty

Shaneeza Ally - Executive Director, For Youth Initiative
