Overview & Agenda

SoCalBio has been offering this workshop since 1997 to help many startups in our community access non-dilutive funding through the SBIR/STTR and other government grant funding programs. Many Southern California companies have taken advatgae of this workshop to sharpen their grant drafting skills and, as a result, obtained funding that enabled them to evolve beyond the concept stage.

Join us on Aug. 28, 2017 to learn how to follow the foot steps of these companies and tap NIH or DoD funding to support your frirm's research. In this workshop you will learn about:

  • Identifying the right agency to apply to
  • How various grant programs are structured
  • Submission guidelines
  • Writing a successful grant proposal
  • Examples for successful proposal writing
  • Solicitation open and closing dates
  • Grant review process
  • How award decisions are made
  • What is expected of your company after the research is completed
  • Meeting government accounting requirements

Who should attend:

  • Anyone planning on submitting an SBIR/STTR proposal in the next 12 months
  • Individuals interested in learning enough about government funding programs to determine if they are interested in pursuing future submissions
  • Researchers and consultants interested in working with SBIR/STTR applicants as subcontractors
