Soap up Superbowl 2013
Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9:00 AM - Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 4:00 PM (EST)
New Orleans, LA
Events that bring alot of people to a city drive up the Demand for Sex for sale. Pimps/Traffickers will be bussing girls-- victims-- into New Orleans and surrounding areas to meet this demand and make money during the 2013 Super Bowl. There is also growing concern that these traffickers will be selling women and young girls for the entire month, since Mardi Gras is only 3 weeks after the Super Bowl.
This event is expected to bring over 80,000 participants and visitors there for the weekend of the Super Bowl, and close to a million visitors for Mardi Gras, driving up the demand.
Help get soap into the motels prior to the event to save these girls from a horrific life and give them an option out.
Please note: soap is distributed PRIOR to the event so that we can ensure the soap is IN the room when the girls are coming to town.
Friday 1/25 and Saturday 1/26
(Please note, you can attend one day or the other or both days)
9:30am- 11:00 Breakfast and Training
A training will teach you about human trafficking in the US, the statistics and Red flags. It will also teach you how to approach motels, train their staff on how to identify a potential victim and signs to look for during the outreach.
Labeling and Packaging of Soap
2:00pm: Teams will load up with soap and head out to approach motels and give them the soap!
Teams will then report back to us the results. Should be over by 4pm
Please note: must be over 18 years of age to participate in the motel outreach. However, the training and packaging of the soap is open to middle school and older.
We would like volunteers doing the motel outreach to have tshirts. SOAP t shirts will be available for purchase ($15) day of event. There will also be Free NOLA t shirts for sale or you can wear a black plain t shirt with no lettering.
This outreach is funded solely on donations from people to buy the soap and printing costs! Donations to cover the cost of the costs of bringing this to New Orleans are greatly appreciated and can be made online at www.traffickfree.com, on this site, or day of the event.
