Therapeutic Resources wants to help OTs, PTs make the transition from adults to pediatrics in this seminar.

About this event

Whether you are transitioning from adults to pediatrics or are a new graduate, this seminar will cover all the strategies and tips you need to know in starting your school-based practice.

School-based occupational and physical therapists work with students, pre-k through 21 years of age, and help them achieve academic goals and participate in the school environment.

The school environment inherently has challenges that clinicians face daily. This makes it difficult to engage students in therapeutic activities and work toward their IEP goals. To be most effective, therapists must be knowledgeable about common diagnoses’, evidence-based practice, and collaboration with team members. This can be daunting, but with support and information gleaned from this presentation, a school-based setting position can be gratifying.

This 3-hour seminar is designed to help therapists transition to the school-based setting.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Which students receive OT/PT in school
  • Roles and Responsibilities of OT/PT in the school-based setting
  • Promoting collaboration with parents and team members
  • Treatment Plans/Strategies
  • Documentation requirements
  • Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify how to get started in your school
  • Identify effective ways to collaborate with parents and team members
  • Identify effective strategies to use in a 30-minute session
  • Identify required documentation
