Description

The Incubator for Nonprofits of Kansas serves to assist with nonprofit start-ups. The following sessions are offered in a 1-day workshop which is designed to provide guidance on how to start a nonprofit and build a foundation for success.

8:30 am – 9:45 am

Session 1: First Things First - Dominic Canare, MakeICT & Cindy Miles, The Nonprofit Chamber of Service

  • What you need to know before committing
  • Create a vision and mission statement for the organization
  • Select a name for the organization
  • Recruit a governing board
  • Governance and bylaws
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Complete the IRS application
  • Develop a projected budget
  • Obtain Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS
  • Obtain proper insurance for organization and board members and officers
