Protest is everywhere lately: in our airports, on our streets, and in our courts and City Halls. The recent resurgence of direct action democracy has drawn both support and criticism from the media and the public at large. The billion-dollar question for these movements is whether the enthusiasm they attract can be converted or leveraged into long term policy changes. Join the City Club of Portland’s Government and Public Policy Committee as we invite local activists, journalists, and community leaders to explore protest and what it means for our community today and into the future.
This event is free and open to the public and will be structured as an hour-long program followed by a half hour of questions and answer. Be a part of the conversation and create the civic environment that makes our region the great place it is!”
