Beekeeping enthusiasts from throughout the region will have the unique opportunity to hear from one of the leading proponets of treatment free beekeeping October 7 - 9, 2016 at the Southern Illinois Treatment Free Beekeeping Seminar Series with Michael Bush. You can select an event at a date/time that fits your schedule or come spend the weekend at Touch of Nature (TON) Environmental Center and particiate in the entire seminar series. If you are local, you do not need to stay on-site to get the weekend event package. If you are from out of the local area, please know you have a variety of affordable on-site lodging options to stay the weekend at TON. TON lodging reservations MUST be made directly with TON by calling 618.453.1121. Lodging is offered on a first-come, first-served basis on-site or choose from many of the amazing southern Illinois lodging options. Those staying the weekend on-site will be own your own for breakfasts/evening meals.
You can sign up for one of two single events being offered or get the weekend seminar VIP package and go to all three events, including the Sunday Field Day with Mr. Bush.
"An Evening with Michael Bush" is scheduled to be held in Sledgefoot Lounge on October 7, 2016. This event features two distinctly different ticket options. During the presentation, Mr. Bush will take through the all four seasons of treatment-free beekeeping at his personal apiary. If you choose the VIP Evening ticket, you will receive your choice of light appetizers and libations, including up to two glasses of local wine exclusively from Katy-Lynn Winery. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be offered. The VIP ticket includes early admission, socializing, and of course food and drinks. The General Admission ticket is just the thing for those busy folks who would like to just come for the presentation. VIP ticket holders may enter at 6:30 PM. General admission ticket holders are asked to arrive at 7:15 PM for the presentation to begin at 7:30 PM. This event is general admission seating.
"Michael Bush FULL DAY Seminar" is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM. in Freeburg Hall on October 8, 2016. Please do not arrive before 8:30 AM. This full day seminar which includes a box lunch, features a day packed with information and opprtunities for questions/answers. Topics include, but are not limited to: Races of bees, 4 Simple Steps, Lazy Beekeeping, Swarm Prevention and splits, and Queen Rearing. A book signing* and author meet/greet follows the presentation. "In the Field with Michael Bush" Noon - 2:30 on October 9, 2016. Due to the outdoor format of this session, this event size is EXTREMELY LIMITED and reserved for VIP weekend ticket holders and event volunteers. You MUST bring your own protective gear, as this event will take place on-site at the TON Teaching Apiary. Meet in the beeyard, just west of the parking lot of Freeburg Hall and follow alongside Mr. Bush, as we discuss fall hive preparation and over wintering. This field event is of course, weather permitting, in the case of inclement weather, we will move inside to an alternative, announced location. No food or drink is offered at this session, so please pack in snacks and a water bottle if you'd like.

After covering event costs, proceeds from this seminar series will be used to purchase much needed equipment for the Touch of Nature Environmental Center Teaching Apiary and to fund honey bee education and outreach efforts in southern Illinois. Donations will also be accepted at the Evening with Michael Bush event.
