The 2017 Quiz Rally will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at Springacre Park in Irvine, CA. The competition will be held according to the 2017 Quiz Rulebook which can be viewed at www.ponyclub.org.
On February 25th the registration table will open at 8:30am. The Volunteer and Chaperone meeting will be at and Rally Meeting will be at 9:00am and competition will begin promptly at 10:00 am. Awards will follow the final phase.

The divisions and team compositions are as follows: (Rulebook: Section I - General Regulations; Articles 4
and 5). Article 4: Divisions are based on age (as of Jan.1) and HM rating as follows:
JUNIOR D (and Unrated) - UR, D1, D2, D3 that are 12 years of age or less as of Jan. 1, 2017
SENIOR D (and Unrated) - UR, D1, D2, D3 that are 13 - 21 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2017
** Portions of MINI D and JUNIOR D may be combined depending on numbers.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR C - C1,C2, C+ that are ages Under 25 years of age as of Jan 1, 2017
Note: In order to qualify for USPC Championships 2017, the competitor must be at least 10 years of age by Jan. 1, 2017 and at least a D2 rating at the time of competition. An application indicating intent to qualify is due to the region along with a $50 nonrefundable fee two weeks prior to the qualifying rally (February 11th, 2017 for Quiz). Please see the attached Championship Application for information.
Article 5: Team composition
A team consists of 3 or 4 members with one member being designated as captain. The team will belong to
one of three Divisions based on age and HM rating.
D teams consist of any combination of Unrated through D-3 Pony Club members.
Unrated Pony Club members compete as D-1s and abide by D regulations.
Teams comprised of both Junior and Senior individuals will compete in the Senior Division. A Junior,
regardless of age, may compete on a Senior team with his/her consent and the consent of his/her DC or in
the case of Championships his/her RS.
C Members cannot compete on D teams. D Members cannot compete on C teams.
Individuals may be placed on a short team from another Club or Region by an Organizer and at the
discretion of the Organizer after consultation with all the resulting team members.
Cost is $50 per competitor. $200 for a team of 4, $150 for a team of 3. This includes Lunch, and bottled water. Please make checks payable to Bridges Equestrian or Call Allie at (949) 395-8349 to pay with a Credit Card. Entries must be postmarked by February 15, 2017 to avoid late fees.
Entries postmarked after February 15th, 2017 will be assessed a $25/participant late fee and are subject to space availability.
Each team must provide two volunteers. Volunteers must be available to stay for the entirety of the rally.

The rulebook addresses assistance during the written test... “Any competitor may have his/her test read to
him/her. A reader will be assigned by the Organizer.” If you have a competitor who cannot complete the competition without assistance, please contact the secretary to discuss.
Pizza Lunch and Bottled Water will be served to all competitors and volunteers.
If you can contact other DC’s/CA’s from other clubs to form composite teams, that would be much appreciated. Please contact the quiz secretary if you would like assistance.
1. Clean, neat, appropriate attire is expected. A collared shirt is required for all competitors, and failure to
wear one will result in 3 points off for each phase of competition
2. Appropriate dress and safe footwear is required during all Barn Phases. Refer to current Horse Management Handbook and Rules for Competition.
3. A USPC pin, number (pinny), USPC Medical Card and name badge must be worn at all times while on
Rally grounds. At the discretion of the Organizer, competitors may carry their Medical Card either in their name tag holders or in an armband.
4. Refer to current Horse Management Handbook and Rules for Competition for current rules on jewelry.
This rally is a qualifying rally. Per Article IX, Section 3, Registration for Championships requires commitment on the part of the member and their parents to attend Championships if selected to support the effort to prepare the team paying the cost of participating in Championships.
Riders who cannot attend Championships should not submit a championship registration form. Applications
must be signed by the member, the member’s District Commissioner and the member’s parents, verifying desire, rating and commitment.
A FEW THINGS
Cell phones – Article 9 page 4 Quiz rulebook – Unauthorized Assistance – #5. “Competitors with a cell phone will be disqualified from competition.” Spectators – Page 5 Quiz rulebook – “Cell phones must be off or on vibrate. Spectators answering a cell phone will be dismissed and not permitted to return.”
Competitors can 1) study in between phases (you cannot bring any study materials with you into any of the
phases – make sure you have a bag that the chaperones can hold for you during the competition), 2) JUMP! We’ll have jumps available or 3) take a nap, hang out with your team mates, etc.
Each phase requires a different amount of time to complete and you will have more time between some phases. Please understand that we must schedule in the inquiry period and some phases will take the entire time allotted.
