SMS Makerspace Room across from the library

Event description

SMS has added a Makerspace room to our learning environment and will offer an after-school club for students in grades 2-8. We have many materials available for creative play and invention: Lego wall, marble runs, magnetic tiles, paper wall-mounted car tracks, perler beads, Osmo devices for interactive iPad activities, etc.

This is our 3rd Makerspace event. We will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from right after school until 4:00. Makerspace Club will be supervised by Mrs. Berg and will not meet on days when school is not in session, or if Mrs. Berg is gone. The activities are driven by student interest and students are encouraged to explore, take some risks, learn something new, and just have some fun with the group. We will not follow a curriculum.

We have room for 15 students. If you signed up for an earlier session we ask that you wait and allow other students this opportunity before signing up for the next session. The deadline for signup is Friday, Jan. 6th. If you notice there are spots left after the deadline, you may sign your child up for another session.

We hope to continue offering this opportunity throughout the school year. Register by clicking the blue "Select a Time" button and register.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Park in the main parking lot. Students should come right up to the Makerspace room after school. You will need to come pick up your child in the Makerspace room @ 4pm or make arrangements for your student to report to SAC if they are registered for that program.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Your child may bring a snack up to the room. No beverages are allowed in the room. There is a drinking fountain nearby.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You may email me or call the school and leave a message:
