Each year, the Sales & Marketing Executives recognize one member of the community who greatly enhances the image of Hawaii and the quality of life. This year, the association is proud to announce our latest recipient. Praised for her work ethic, community involvement and philanthropy, Jean Rolles is widely regarded as a significant contributor to the business community.
Since the 1957 inception of the award, when Daniel S. C. Liu first accepted the title, SME has recognized scores of leaders who have served to better our community in Hawaii. We are proud to be able to add Rolles' name to this distinguished list as our 60th recipient. Join us as we recognize her vision, achievements and contributions at this esteemed annual event.
Mrs. Jean Rolles has served as VP of Community Service of Outrigger since 1999, however her first contributions to the organization came as early as 1946 when she was only 11 years old. Born and raised in Hawaii, she has spent her entire career working in the family business. A lifelong advocate for education, Rolles graduated from Cornell University and later earned a master’s degree in Japanese Business. She was also the first in the hotel field in Hawaii to complete the requirements for the Certified Property Manager (CPM) and earn the coveted credential from the Institute of Real Estate Management in Chicago.
Giving back to the community is a core tenet of not only Outrigger’s corporate philosophy but Rolles’ personal philosophy as well. She has served in leadership roles throughout the community including trustee of the Honolulu Museum of Art and the Crown Prince Akihito Scholarship Foundation. She has shaped policy both as a regent at Chaminade University as well as a member of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court Disciplinary Board. She has served and held office on over a dozen non-profit boards including Pacific and Asian affairs council, Pacific Forum, YWCA of O’ahu, Nature Conservancy of Hawai‘i , East-West Center Foundation, Hawaii Opera Theatre and the American Red Cross – Hawaii State Chapter.
