SMC Seattle: Ending Homelessness Through Film and Social Storytelling
Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Armed with a start-up budget of $45 dollars, a camera, and social media, renowned filmmaker Mark Horvath has worked tirelessly to end homelessness one story at a time. Having lived among the homeless once himself, Mark created InvisiblePeople.tv and leveraged the power of video to share the poignant, unfiltered stories of the millions of individuals and families who reside in shelters, motels, tents along the streets and under highway bridges across the country.
Join us for this month’s Social Media Club Seattle (SMC Seattle) on at 415 Westlake where Mark, (@hardlynormal) will share how he uses storytelling to give homeless individuals and families a voice through InvisiblePeople.tv and social media channels. We’ll have an hour-long program and plenty of time for networking. Seats are limited and we expect it to sell out, so grab a ticket soon.
In 2008, Mark Horvath, now known to many as @hardlynormal, set out to film the stories of America’s homeless and share them with as many people as possible on InvisiblePeople.tv and through other social media channels. Since then, he has become an internationally recognized activist and ambassador for the millions of individuals and families who reside in shelters, motels, tents along the streets and under highway bridges across the country.
