SMASH FEST 1 TO HOST WORLD PREMIERE OF

‘A HUNDRED MILES TO THE END’ IN LONG BEACH, NEW YORK

(New York, NY) - SMASH Productions LLC is stoked to announce that SMASH FEST 1 will play host to the world premiere of the New York surfing epic, ‘A Hundred Miles to the End,’ a film directed and produced by John Beattie. The premiere will take place on Saturday, July 13th at 7PM at the Long Beach Public Library in Long Beach, NY.  After suffering a debilitating stroke in 2007, John Beattie made a strong recovery but was left unable to continue his lifelong love of surfing. Through film, John has been able to reconnect with his passion. ‘A Hundred Miles to the End’ follows John from Long Beach to Montauk as he rediscovers surfing, as it exists today, in the different surfing communities throughout Long Island, NY.

SMASH FEST 1 is a month-long series of surf film and art events that will span the New York area from Brooklyn, to Rockaway Beach, to Long Beach and Montauk. SMASH FEST 1 is the first profit sharing surf film festival for independent filmmakers. The world premiere of ‘A Hundred Miles to the End’ will be the official opening event of SMASH FEST 1

Proceeds from the opening evening of SMASH FEST 1 will go to Friends of the Library and a raffle will be held for the Long Beach Surfer’s Association. Friends of the Library is a 501 © organization that is an advocate for the Long Beach Public Library that helps to raise additional funds in order to support the library’s programs and purchase materials outside of the library’s budget. The Long Beach Surfer’s Association is a non-profit that provides a unified voice for the surf community and helps insure public policy that appropriately addresses the needs of the large and vibrant community of Long Beach.

Where: Long Beach Public Library, 111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY 11561
