Description

East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.) is one of the great things Austinites look forward to each fall. Now in its 17th year, 521 participants in East Austin will open their studios, workshops and galleries for two weekends of self-guided art, exhibition tours, hands-on activities, and more, for visitors of all ages. With only a limited amount of time it’s hard to see it all but, with help from your art-loving friends at Capital Metro, we can help you discover dozens of creative spaces clustered together along Cesar Chavez on MetroBus #17. After all, with thousands of people expected to participate, parking is likely to be a nightmare....

MAKE IT A TRANSIT ADVENTURE! Capital Metro & Smart Trips Austin are providing free Local Day Passes so you can spend more time appreciating a second weekend of Eastside creativity and less time circling for parking.

12:00 PM | CHECK-IN | Join us *in front* of Terrazas Branch Library to get a free Capital Metro Local Day Pass and to get ready to roll.

>>> 12:15 PM | TOUR #1: ART 84 / TWO GOATS POTTERY / DEAD END STUDIO | There are a bunch of studios near the library, so we're starting with a stroll in the Holly neighborhood and hitting three multi-artist enclaves. Guests are invited to enjoy a variety of art with two adorable pet goats, live music, and dance performances.

1:09 PM | CATCH CAP METRO | 1605 Cesar Chavez/Comal (Stop #1802) | #17 MetroBus -- every 15 min, 7 days a week! | 12:54pm / 1:09pm / 1:24pm / 1:39pm

>>> 1:15 PM | TOUR #2: SOMA VIDA GALLERY | Visit the Soma Vida Gallery and adjacent fine artist market, which promises a spontaneous expression of creative drive with 20+ artists to explore. Plus, if you're getting hungry, there's plenty of good vegan noms available on-site too!

2:14 PM | CATCH CAP METRO | 2504 Cesar Chavez/Pedernales (Stop #6268) | #17 MetroBus -- every 15 min, 7 days a week! | 1:59pm / 2:14pm / 2:29pm / 2:44pm

>>> 2:20 PM | TOUR #3: SPLINTER GROUP / CLOUD TREE STUDIOS & GALLERY / PUMP PROJECT | Our final stop includes an bevy of fine art studios clustered between E. Cesar Chavez and E. 5th Street. Enjoy sculpture, furniture, woodworks, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, metalworks, mixed media, drawing and paintings at these multi-artist enclaves. For the intrepid few that would like to continue the tour, we would recommend paying a visit to The Brewer's Table -- featuring the pastel and watercolor work of Katie Dunkle and Cacophony Recorders -- offering a "silent opera" at 4PM.

3:54 PM | RETURN TRIP | 3513 Cesar Chavez/Springdale (Stop #6261) | #17 MetroBus -- every 15 min, 7 days a week! | 3:39pm / 3:54pm / 4:09pm / 4:24pm

4:15 PM | END OF EVENT | MetroBus #17 will return us to the Terraza's Branch Library. Capital Metro staff can help you end your tour earlier (or later), if needed. *** Please remember to wear comfortable shoes. There will be plenty of walking and standing ***
