Description

Fall Festival Season is upon us, which means thousands of people descend upon downtown Austin each week for events that inspire, educate, and celebrate our shared culture. The last weekend of October is particularly jam-packed this year, with the Texas Book Festival, Austin Film Festival, and Mexic-Arte's Viva la Vida Parade all taking place on the same day! It promises to be an unforgettable celebration for the whole family, unless you try to find parking....

MAKE IT A SMART TRIP! | Capital Metro, Smart Trips Austin and Councilmember Kathie Tovo invite you (and your whole family) for free coffee & tacos AND the opportunity to choose-your-own-adventure with a free Local Day Pass OR a free Guided Bike Ride downtown from Mueller's Browning Hangar -- so you can spend more time at the festivals and less time circling downtown for parking.

*********************************************************
10:00 AM | CHECK-IN | Join us in Mueller's Browning Hangar for free coffee & tacos and to get ready to roll!

10:20 AM | WELCOME FROM COUNCILMEMBER KATHIE TOVO | We're honored to have District 9 Austin City Councilmember Kathie Tovo joining us for our Super Saturday Adventure. She'll be at the Browning Hangar welcoming everyone and will address the crowd before choosing a bike or bus trip downtown. PLUS -- we have prizes for those who come in costume!

10:40 AM | CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN-ADVENTURE | Smart Trips Eastside is offering participants two ways of getting downtown for the festivities:

>>>> Option A: Viva la Bike Train! | Want to bike downtown? We've got your covered! Smart Trips Eastside Ambassadors are leading a ride showcasing some of the best neighborhood bike trails on the Eastside. Join us for an all-ages-all-abilities ride that will wind through Patterson Park, Cherrywood, Rosewood, Boggy Creek Greenbelt Trail, Eastlink Trail, and the Lance Armstrong Bikeway before ending downtown.

** Please bring your own bike & helmet -- tandems, recumbents & e-bikes welcome too! **

** NO BIKE? NO PROBLEM ** Our micromobility partner JUMP will have E-Bikes available for attendees to use at no cost. JUMP riders must be 18 years or older and should have the UBER or JUMP app downloaded on their phone. JUMP representatives will be present to assist those without smartphones. In addition to receiving a free bus pass, a JUMP promo code will be provided for a free return trip.

>>>> Option B: Viva la Transit Adventure! | Prefer to bus downtown? Capital Metro staff are leading a bus trip from Mueller to Congress Avenue so you can catch all the Super Saturday action without breaking a sweat.

10:40 AM | CATCH CAP METRO | 1714 Aldrich/Mueller (Stop #5670) | #10 MetroBus -- every 15 min, 7 days a week! | 10:31am / 10:46am / 11:01am

11:12 AM | SUPER SATURDAY | Both the bike ride and transit adventure will bring participants downtown with plenty of time to spare before Mexic-Arte's Viva la Vida Parade & Festival. Of course, there's plenty more to explore in downtown Austin this weekend, with the Texas Book Festival and Austin Film Festival hosting open-air events on Congress Avenue and the SFC Downtown Farmers Market in full swing at Republic Square Park.

RETURN TRIP | Head back to Mueller whenever you like!

>>>> Biking back? Smart Trips Ambassadors can help you find the best bike route back to Mueller.

>>>> Bussing back? Getting to Mueller by bus is easy (and you can even take your bike back on the bus!)
