Event description

Description

This Smart Salting: Parking Lots and Sidewalks Workshop will provide training on a variety of best practices for managing snow and ice on parking lots and sidewalks. All plow drivers, maintenance workers, building managers, and other staff responsible for winter parking lot and sidewalk maintenance are encouraged to attend.

Through presentations and class exercises, participants will learn how to integrate science with practical winter maintenance while minimizing impacts on the environment. Participants are able to receive a Level I Certification for Snow and Ice Control Best Practices from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency through an examination at the end of the course.

Morning snacks and lunch will be provided.

This class will be taught by Fortin Consultants. Funding is provided by MPCA through a grant from US EPA, Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Fund. Additional funding is through the Rice Creek Watershed District. The City of Forest Lake is also a partner for this workshop.
