Join us for this Smart Lunch featuring a video from the Zero To Three 2016 Plenary Session, Attachment, Trauma, and Reality: Creating Trauma-Informed Systems for Infants, Toddlers, and Their Families. Alicia Lieberman, PhD, and Chandra Ghosh Ippen, PhD, discuss how infants and toddlers are disproportionately victimized by family violence, and how they remember and enact their traumatic experiences through emotional dysregulation, insecure attachment, relationship problems, and delays in exploration and learning. This presentation will describe Child-Parent Psychotherapy as an evidence-based treatment for young children and parents exposed to family violence and explain how trauma principles are being applied in child care programs, home visiting, and other systems to foster the healthy development of traumatized children and parents.
