Who should attend Smart Girls Conference?
Smart Girls Conference is open to all ages! From middle school, high school, and college-aged students to professionals and beyond are welcome to attend. We highly encourage Smart Girl Sisters and members of our Smart Women's Network or those interested in becoming involved in The Smart Girls Group to attend.
Where is Smart Girls Conference?
Smart Girls Conference is at Fordham University Lincoln Center, which is located in the Upper West Side, exactly one block from Columbus Circle and next to the Lincoln Center. Fordham University Lincoln Center's address is: 113 West 60th Street, New York, NY 10023.
Does it cost any money to attend Smart Girls Conference?
There is a registration fee for attended Smart Girls Conference. Attendees are encouraged to register early to qualify for the lowest possible registration rate. Early bird registration will be open from April 28 – June 1, 2014. General registration will continue from June 2 – July 7, 2014. Registration rates are as follows:
- Smart Girls Sister Early Bird Registration: $49.99
- General Public Early Bird Registration: $59.99
- General Registration (for both Smart Girl Sisters and General Public): $79.99
What is included in the registration fee?
The registration fee will cover the cost of your Smart Girls Conference conference materials, snacks, swag bag, breakfast, and lunch on both days of the event. Attendees should expect to pay for their travel and housing expenses, and any additional activities they plan on pursuing during their time in New York City.
Is Smart Girls Group arranging housing during the summit?
We are blocking rooms at the Holiday Inn on 57th Street, only a few blocks from Fordham University Lincoln Center. Attendees will be able to block rooms at the Holiday Inn starting on Monday, April 28th (same day as registration). Attendees are more than welcome to stay wherever they would like. Hotel accommodation is not provided in the conference registration fee.
What is the conference schedule?
The conference will begin promptly at 9:00am on Wednesday, July 9th, but we will open the doors at 8:00am and suggest attendees arrive then. From 8:00am-8:45am, attendees will sign in, receive their smart bags, and attend the Smart Girls Expo. This is also when we will be serving breakfast. Attendees are expected to participate in the summit from approximately 8:00am-4:45pm on Thursday, July 10th.
There is an optional conference day on Friday, July 11th, where we will arrange small group excursions throughout New York City. Information and registration for that can be found here.
How do I get to New York City?
There are many ways to get to the Smart Girls Conference! Fordham University Lincoln Center is located in the Upper West Side, exactly one block from Columbus Circle.
The major airports in New York City include LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy (JFK), and Newark (EWK) in New Jersey. There is a shuttle from Newark (EWK) to New York City. From LaGuardia and JKF, you can take a yellow cab or the subway. If taking the subway, we suggest using the Google Maps app. If you’re traveling from a nearby city, consider taking a train to Penn Station or riding the Megabus or Bolt Bus.
What should I pack to wear?
Here at The Smart Girls Group, we encourage Smart Girls to own their individual style. With that being said, for the conference, attire should be business casual. Business casual attire includes professional outfits consisting of a blouse and dress pants/skirt or a dress. The average July temperature in New York City is 83 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity.

The Smart Girls Group arms young women with the tools that they need to succeed in all facets of life, all in a unique sisterhood environment. With 500+ Smart Girl Sisters from 48 states and 25+ countries, our Smart Girls share their smarts on whatever their passions may be, from health to current affairs, but most importantly, how to be a Smart Girl in today’s world. In addition to their monthly digital magazine, Smart Girl’s Guide, and daily content on Smart Girl’s Loop, The Smart Girls Group has a campus chapter program in the U.S., Europe, and Canada, an online community exclusive to Smart Girl Sisters, online classes, a book club, e-newsletters, live events, giveaways, and an online shop that sponsors girls' education in the developing world, making The Smart Girls Group the one-stop-shop for today’s superstar young women. As a sisterhood, our community is an engaged user base, consisting of young women, ages 13-25, who are all invested in and passionate about The Smart Girls Group.

Founded in 2012 by then high school senior, Emily Raleigh, The Smart Girls Group has been awarded the 2013 Kenneth Cole AWEARNESS Grant and the 2014 Camp Campbell Competition, sponsored by Campbell's Soup Co. CEO, Denise Morrison. The Smart Girls Group was selected as one of four companies to be in the inaugural class of the Fordham Foundry, a small business incubator, sponsored by Fordham University and the City of New York.
