Join the Smart City Readiness Project as we host guest speakers:

Paul Bedford, formerly Chief Planner for the City of Toronto for eight years, Paul Bedford focused his energy on the development of new planning values, policies and processes to guide the next generation of city building in Canada’s largest city. As the driving force behind “the Kings’ renaissance,” Toronto’s groundbreaking new Official Plan and unanimous City Council approval of the Central Waterfront Principles Plan, he challenged everyone to embrace new ways to think, act and plan. Following his retirement from the City of Toronto after 31 years of public service, Mr. Bedford remains passionate about the city and remains active in shaping the new urban policy agenda at all levels of government.

Alex Speigel, from Windmill Development Group is excited to share his experience developing, The Baker District project in downtown Guelph. This planned development in partnership with the City of Guelph is approximately 500,000 sq.ft. and will create a unique mixed-use development with a new central library, other synergistic community uses and approximately 300 residential units just a short walk away from Guelph’s central train station. This development promises to be an exciting addition to one of Canada’s fastest growing and most dynamic communities with many similar challenges that Peterborough faces.

Anthea Foyer, is the project lead for Mississauga’s Smart City master plan. She will be sharing her experiences from a Municipal level, insights from Mississauga’s Smart City submission last year and how the city is leveraging Smart City technology to create solutions for their city’s challenges.

The Summit is free and open to the public, so all have the opportunity to hear from great local and provincial voices. Hope to see you there!
