WELCOME - SCIX-STL Internet Exchange Meetup !
Join us January 21st at the T-REX for a regional design review for the SCIX-STL Internet Exchange point for the greater St. Louis area.
SCIX is working to provide a single peering fabric and peering services for local service providers, data centers, and carrier hotels. SCIX will also provide a second fabric for Smart City IoE, regional sensor networks, advanced security services and high speed wireless networks.
Bill Woodcock from the Packet Clearing House , SCIX team members and Sandel & Associates will be providing a full day presentation regarding design, operation, governance and operational issues for SCIX-STL. PCH has offered to provide SCIX-STL with switch gear to make this a reality for the St. Louis area.
AGENDA:
SCIX Introduction: ( 1 Hour )
a). SCIX-STL Service Provider peering and Smart City services, sensor networks and IoE - SCIX Team.
For all Service Providers, Data Centers Carrier Hotels, Data Companies and Enterprenuers.
Service Provider Session: ( 5 Hours )
a). Layer 2 Peering Fabric - Bill Woodcock - Five hour working session.
b). Switch fabric, optics and transport, route serving, IPV4 and IPV6, operations nd governance.
For Service Providers, Data Centers Carrier Hotels and Public Sector Org's. Others welcome to attend.

The day long session includes session breaks, and a break for lunch. Bill will also be available all day 1/22 for private one on one stakeholder meetings.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
The entire session should be attended by Service Providers, Data Centers, Carrier Hotels and the Public Sector. Tech companies and entreprenuers that are interested in IoE, analytics collection, sensor networks and advanced security services should attend the first hour session, but are also welcome to stay for the entire session. Bill Woodcocks session will be generally limited to Service Providers, Data Center, Carrier Hotels and transport design, IP layer and Governance. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INVITE OTHERS WHO MAY BE INTERESTED.

SCIX-STL is the Smart City Internet Exchange - facilities to be located in downtown St. Louis.
SCIX has three primary communities of interest:
a). A primary dedicated peering fabric for SP's and Providers looking for traditional IX peering and route services.
b). A secondary dedicated peering fabric for local high speed networks for Innovation Districts, Innovation Neighborhoods, R+E, Healthcare, Smart City sensor networks, high speed wireless, center market connectivity for IoE and advanced security services.
c). Collaboration - SCIX will provide an organizational focal point from which to share best practices and accelerate the development of services and policy for the SCIX and both peering fabrics, IoE and Smart City initiatives in the St. Louis area.
d). The SCIX will operate as a public-private partnership.
e). The first organizations indicating a desire to participate are Google and Delmar Loop Data Rail.
In September the White house announced Smart City initiative funding of $160 M. First round grant funding is aimed at research, NSF, NIST, US Ignite and executive education. Most of the research dollars will be used for Smart City and related IoE app development.
