About this event
Please join us on May 13th for the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) Smart and Secure Cities and Communities Spring Gathering featuring the Utility SuperCluster.
The GCTC Utility SuperCluster focuses on sustainability challenges related to Energy, Water and Waste Management by bringing cities, counties, and municipalities together with technology solution providers, academia, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, and associations to celebrate inventiveness, share best practices and demonstrate world-class innovation.
The Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and critical infrastructure sectors are becoming increasingly dependent on “smart” architectures and devices in fundamentally new ways. These technologies will enable cities and communities to improve services, promote economic growth, and enhance the quality of life, but also will require thoughtful risk mitigation.
Come Meet, Greet, and Connect with key influencers across the public and private sectors who are leading efforts to meet these challenges.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT
WHERE: Webcast | A Zoom Webinar link to join will be provided upon registration.
ABSTRACT
Water is used in all phases of energy production and electricity generation, and energy is required to extract, convey and deliver water and to treat wastewaters prior to their return to the environment. A primary interface is that between our present-day energy and water systems.
Given today’s population growth, technological advances and policy developments, we can/should embrace opportunity to pursue research, development, and deployment of key technologies; sharing of robust datasets; integration of models to inform decision-making; harmonization of policies where warranted; and enhanced public dialogue.
As our ubiquitously, Internet-connected world evolves, the time is now to leverage “smart” infrastructure and to underpin a reliable, robust, resilient, secure, and sustainable Energy-Water/Wastewater nexus; two sectors that maintain a dynamic, symbiotic relationship dependent on interactions among our critical infrastructure landscape, the population, the economy, other infrastructure systems and natural resources.
