Main Event Format

Machine: La Marzocco Linea Classic.

Pre-Register is $10 plus $1.54 Eventbrite fee. At the door is $15. (We strongly recommend securing your spot online).

Main event buy-in is limited to 48 spots.

Single Elimination head-to-head tournament style bracket.

Event staff will extract espresso for the pours, each competitor will get a single pour per round.

Competitors may use personal cups and pitchers, but Abbey will provide for those who need them.

  3. Richard Blackwell previously of Sunergos Coffee

Designs must be free-pour only (no etching).

Judging Criteria: Aesthetic Beauty, Definition, Color Infusion, Degree of Difficulty, Overall Execution.

To move on, a competitor must win the vote of minimum 2 of 3 judges.

Modbar Icon

"I <3 Modbar" Side Event Format

Machine: Modbar Mobile Cart

Prize: Acaia Pearl Coffee Scale

Competitors may pay $5 cash to have a chance to pour one drink on the modbar cart. There is no limit to the amount of times a competitor may pay $5 for one pour. Modbar staff will assist in espresso extraction.

The design must be a free-pour heart. Design guidelines will be presented at the event.

Each drink will be photographed by event staff. At the end of the event, a single winner will be picked by the assigned judge, based on provided design criteria.

There are several area hotels, as well as a number of local Airbnb and Bed and Breakfast locations.

Code of Conduct

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, economic status, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Event staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff immediately.

Event staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events.
