Small Moments — Big Ideas | Virtual | YWC 2022

Through small moments of writing, campers will explore big ideas. Using diverse literature and art as inspiration, they will engage in conversation, write poetry about issues that are important to them, and express their views while playing with words.

Participants will:

• Explore diverse models of poetry writing
• Be inspired by the arts
• Delve into social justice themes and use their voices to speak up
• Play with language in new ways
• Take a virtual field trip
• Celebrate their writing on the final day

For students entering grades 5-8. Cost is $250. Eventbrite service fees included. No refunds at any time.

FAQs

What is a class/group? Camp will consist of up to 24 students and facilitated by two SDAWP writing teachers.

What platforms are going to be used? We will be using UCSD-secured Zoom and Google Docs (Google account required). Personal email may be used during the program. 

What materials will I need? You will need a device with stable access to the internet. We recommend: laptop, Chromebook, desktop computer, iPad -- smart phones are not suitable for this program.

What is the refund policy? The deadline for refunds is July 11.

Registration Deadline Registration deadline is July 11. Minimum enrollment must be met to offer this program. 

Is there a sibling discount? Additional sibling—$225 each. A partial refund will be processed after the first day of camp.

Note to parents: This camp requires that participants have access to Google Docs. Please make sure your child has either a Google Account or a Gmail address before registering. This will ensure your child will have access to all the resources and material for the camp. 

To find out if your child’s email is already linked to a Google Account:

1. Visit the Google Accounts password change page. (https://accounts.google.com/signin/usernamerecovery)
2. Enter any email address you think you might've used to create a Google Account. 
3. If Google does not recognize it, you'll immediately see a message. Below the message, you'll see a link to create a Google Account using that email address.

If your child doesn't have a Google Account but does have an email address already, you can create a Google account for them using that email address. If your child doesn't have an email address, you can create one with Gmail, at https://accounts.google.com/SignUp.

If at the end of camp you want to delete the account:

1. Go to myaccount.google.com.
2. At the left, click Data and personalization.
3. Scroll to "Download, delete, or make a plan for your data."
4. Click Delete a service or your account.
5. Click Delete your account.
