Event description

Description

On a quarterly basis, Mission Triangle teaches on one of the three core nonprofit competencies: Biblical Leadership, Organizational Effectiveness, Sustainable Service.

Our focus for the second quarter of 2019 is Biblical Leadership, teaching specifically on Staff Leadership.  As a follow-up to the workshops delivered in April/May, this small group discussion on Situational Leadership: A Coaching Model for Staff & Volunteers is being offered in order to explore the following:

What is your nonprofit’s coaching model? How do you balance micro-management with delegating and delivering on standard and on time?

Coaching can be cultural for your organization if leaders and followers work from the same playbook. Imagine the strength within the organization if everyone uses the same vocabulary and tools when coaching staff, volunteers or working as a member of a team.

We will introduce the basic principles of Situational Leadership which is the world’s most used coaching model. Situational Leadership was founded by Ken Blanchard as a corporate tool and then repositioned after he became a believer in his best-selling book, Lead Like Jesus.

We will cover the three skills of the situational leader and provide tools to help you leverage these principles in your nonprofit:

  • Goal setting: aligning on what needs to be done and when

  • Diagnosing: collaboratively assessing an individual's competence and commitment

  • Matching: using a variety of leadership styles to provide individuals with what they need
