Small Business Day is a free event for small business owners/managers looking to broaden, strengthen, and deepen their communications with their current and potential customers, employees, the general public, and stakeholders.
“We would argue, though, that the very size of small businesses creates a special condition—which can be referred to as resource poverty—that distinguishes them from their larger counterparts and requires some very different management approaches.” A Small Business Is Not a Little Big Business, John A. Welsh and Jerry F. White, Harvard Business Review (July 1981).
While the article this quote is from is more than 35 years old, the term resource poverty still describes the majority of small businesses. Technology has advanced tremendously since 1981, making it easier for small business owners/managers to develop most of the basics they need to get their company off the ground. But then what?
There is no clear or direct answer to a communications-related question. Everything in communications is dependent on something else. To get the most out of a communications resource, you really need to meet face-to-face.
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Utah membership will be on hand to provide consultative services to local, small business owners and managers. The event is free to the public and is a "no strings attached" event--this event is 100% pro bono.
