Get ready for fall and all those wonderful fall flavors we love!
In this interactive class attendees will learn the essentials of making fruit butters and sauces. We'll focus on pear butter, though the methodology is the same for fall favorite, applesauce and butter. Participants will learn hands-on, how to safely and deliciously put up our Texas pears to enjoy them year round, including ways to personalize your butters and sauces to match your flavoring and sweetness preferences. We'll cover the waterbath canning method of sealing the jars for shelf-storage as well as common safety concerns with food preservation.
We will be working with pears from just outside of Houston (from a friend's tree!) which are starting their season now here in Central Texas. Participants will each take home a recipe/notes handout and a jar of pear butter.
Light snacks will be served.
